Dear Grammar School Parents:

Your Libertas Grammar School faculty wants to express our appreciation for your many kind words and prayers over these last few weeks. Some of our teachers have been able to connect with their students over Zoom and have really enjoyed the chance to get their classes back together.

We are continuing as a grammar school faculty to grow and learn during this unusual time. Our desire is to partner with you, as we finish the school year in these last few weeks. We have carefully considered the things that need to be covered by the end of the year to keep your students on track to start school in the fall. Communication about expectations and assignments will come from your child’s teachers each week. They will provide instructions on assignments and projects.

Naturally, you may have some reservations about how “homeschooling” will work these remaining weeks of school. Here are some helpful guidelines from an ACCS school in Texas.
• Parents will need to be most involved in creating a healthy and steady home environment and schedule. Regarding academic success, this will be the most important role of parents in the coming days and weeks. Families will be “stuck together” at home, and so there will need to be a healthy variation of activity, structure, leisure, and social stimulation.
• Parents should keep a clear and consistent family schedule.
• Parents will need to be more closely involved in the execution and understanding of the material, ensuring the student is reaching out to the teacher as needed and the parent is offering some further instruction at home as needed.
• Parents should plan healthy amounts of outside time, where children can play in the backyard.
• Parents should plan game nights, popcorn nights, and creative ways to continue to foster family bonds, friendship, and virtue in the home.
• Parents should sing with and pray with their children, taking this opportunity to mature the whole family in disciplines perhaps they have neglected.

We appreciate all your efforts with your children at home during this time. Again, this experience lends new depth to our Libertas mission of “partnering with parents", for which we are truly grateful!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have a question on an assignment. You may also contact me if you have any questions. My email address is [email protected] Our teachers and I are praying for all of you during this time. We love all of you and miss the daily interaction with your children!
